Alligator Adventure in Myrtle Beach, SC

This is a big park area filled with reptiles of all kinds. Obviously there are lots of alligators and crocodiles, but they've also got a number of other animals, such as frogs, turtles, otters, tropical birds, and even bears. It's basically a zoo park with a focus on the reptile side of things.

Kids generally love the place, although one downside is that alligators aren't really that active except at feeding time, so many of them will just be sleeping or hanging out. They have tried to rotate the feedings with different animals being fed at different times, though, so that they've got them going on pretty frequently - so you should try to go watch those exhibits when they do it, there will be more activity then, the gators will even jump out of the water to get the food. ALSO - if you go in the winter, some of the gators will be much less active, so keep that in mind - a summer trip is better if you want to see them moving. The snakes and the lizards they have also have more energy and will be moving around doing stuff. They have some albino alligators, and a huge one named Utan, the King of the Crocs. All in all, if you like zoos, you'll probably like this.

The address of the Alligator Adventure is:

Highway 17 at Barefoot Landing

North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582

843-361-0789

Admission costs about $15, $10 for kids 4-12. It's also free if you're active duty in the military, but you need a military ID. You can check out their website here, which has pictures and information on all the different kinds of animals they have there.
