One of several amusement parks in Myrtle Beach is the Family Kingdom park. This is what it sounds like - a park geared towards families, with many rides designed for smaller children so that everyone in the family can have a good time there. It consists of both a water park and a general amusement park. It's located on the oceanfront, and it has a lot for children of all ages to do - but it might not be very interesting for adults without a family.

The Family Kingdom park is another park in Myrtle Beach that operates on the "pay to ride" philosophy, which I like. If you just want to go in to watch your kids for the day, you only have to pay the price for your kids. Anyone who's just supervising and doesn't use the rides can come in for free. It will generally cost you about $20.00 for an "All-Rides" pass, which gets you on everything but the Go-Karts, the Waterpark, and the Pony Rides. The Waterpark is essentially a separate area, and you have to pay roughly $15.00 a person to get a pass there.
The Family Kingdom has a number of rides. These range from traditional roller coasters such as the Swamp Fox to the Sling Shot, a vertical pole that shoots you up and down along it. There are plenty of rides for the kids, and they are generally themed that way - there aren't as many "adult" rides that are set up to go extremely fast, but instead most are family-type rides that anyone can use such as bumper cars, a ferris wheel, and a canoe ride. There are probably better parks in Myrtle Beach if you're looking for something fast or something for a date. If you're going on a family vacation, however, this is the place to go - even young children or timid children will find lots of things they'll have fun doing here. One warning though: make sure to avoid a rainy day. They close the rides down if it rains, leaving only an arcade open - and you won't get a refund for that all-day pass.
You can get some useful information at their web site if you're planning a trip to Myrtle Beach - first, make sure that you check the calendar. The amusement park is open from mid-March through September. For the waterpark, it's generally late-May to early-September. There are some details about directions, a map, and a little more information about rides at the site as well.
