The Ingram Planetarium is a neat, educational attraction that isn't in Myrtle Beach itself, but is pretty close. It's basically what you'd think of as a standard planetarium - they've got an 85-person viewing area under a domed ceiling, where they show you shots of the constellations and stars at various times of the year and times in our planet's history. They also have some special shows, such as one about the history of the Moon and mankind's views about it and relationship to it. If you're interested in astronomy, they've got a number of different kinds of stargazing activities and science related events. You can view their website here to check on whether they'll be open when you're going and on any current events that are going on there.
The Ingram Planetarium is located at:
7625 High Market St.
Sunset Beach, NC 28468
Phone: 910-575-0033
It's about a 30-45 minute drive north of Myrtle Beach itself.
