Myrtle Waves Water Park in Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Waves is a popular water park located in Myrtle Beach. It's open all through June and August, and on the weekends for parts of May and September. It costs about $25 a person, with discounts for young kids and the elderly. You can get a season pass if you live in the area, and if you plan to go 3 times or more over the summer it's worth it. Just remember, though: buy the pass while the park's closed. If you plan ahead, you'll get it very cheap - try to buy it during the summer and they raise the prices substantially.
The water rides at this park, of course, are the main event. There are more than 20 acres of rides at Myrtle Waves and the park attracts approximately a quarter-million visitors each year or a total of 3.5 million since its opening in 1985.
The rides at Myrtle Waves include two raft attractions – the LayZee River, a 1,200 foot-long slow-flowing 3 mph water ride that encircles the park and can be enjoyed via a double or single inner tube; and Racin’ River, a 10 mph river where riders travel on skimmer boards. Eight slides pump up the action a bit. They include Turbo Twisters, 10-story-high darks slides – the highest tube slides in the word – where riders travel about 50 feet per second; Riptide Rockets, 350-foot-long side-by-side slides; Snake Mountain, three serpentine inner tube slides including one that suitable for parents with small children; Arooba Tooba, an enclosed flume that empties into a funnel; Night Flight, twin enclosed black inner tube slides with foggy tunnels; Super Chute, a tube slide with a 4-foot vertical drop; Thunderbolts, a tame version of Riptide Rockets for smaller visitors; and Sidewinder, a rapid body slide for kids under 48 inches tall.
Additional attractions include a 20,000 square foot
motion pool that makes waves more than 4-feet tall; Bubble Bay, a large pool
designed for toddlers and reaching only 18 inches in depth; and Saturation
Station, a Caribbean-themed water play area that includes squirt guns,
waterfalls, slides, wooden plank bridges, and more.
At various times during the summer, Myrtle Waves Waterpark sponsors a number of special events, including Military Mondays, when members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families can enter at a reduced rate; Fellowship Nights for Christian guests; Service Industry Appreciation Days; Scout Days; and more.
Cabanas can be rented daily and may be reserved in advance. In addition, the facility offers hundreds of poolside lounge chairs, showers and locker rooms for men and women, handicapped-accessible restrooms, and shaded pavilions for group outings or cook-outs.
Birthday party packages are available and include free admission for the birthday child, discount admission for guests, private party area, food, paper products, invitations, and a party hostess.
There are a bunch more rides, and you can see a map of them all here on the official Myrtle Waves website. You might also want to look at the photo gallery they've got up here, which will show you what the park looks like.
