The Pier at Garden City in Myrtle Beach

The Pier at Garden City is a fishing pier that was voted "Best of the Beach" in the fishing pier category in 2004. It's not in Myrtle Beach itself, but it's just to the south of it and is part of the same general area called the "Grand Strand." They've got a tackle shop complete with everything you'd need, along with the Pier Arcade, which is an arcade with a bunch of different games to play. If you want a place to let the kids hang out while you're fishing, it's very convenient. They also have the Pier Cafe there, which is a little place to eat (although it's got a pretty limited menu). There are a number of fish in the area, including pompano, croakers, trout, and flounder.

Unlike some of the other piers in the area, it's free to walk on if you just want to go out and get a view of the ocean. Fishing passes cost $8 for adults, and $4 for children under 12. You can view their web site here, which has more information and pictures of the pier. You can also see specific information on fishing there, including tips and fishing reports, on their site here. The pier is open to fish 24/7, but the tackle shop closes at midnight.
